Items for consideration by the Parish Council -
on April 1st
1. In view of increased traffic on Wash Lane and Grays Lane a one way system is under consideration. In order that house owners will not be inconvenienced too much the system would operate clockwise one day and anti clockwise the next.
2. In order to slow traffic in The Street and encourage people to leave their cars at home, a cycle lane between Grays Lane and Wash Lane is to be considered.
3. In order to assist the District’s shortage of affordable housing, land owners are to be asked to make land available within the Conservation Area to Housing Associations.
4. The construction of a Wind Farm on high ground above the village
5. Application for Raves in the Village Hall.
Following an EU directive, all carrot seeds to be planted this Spring have to be inspected by government officials who will stamp each seed with a ‘Planted in Wissett’ logo.
SPEXHALL & WISSETT WI
The Birthday Supper meeting at The Wissett Plough was a gastronomic delight thanks to Nick and his team; something to be repeated! The meeting on March 25th was a talk entitled ‘Humour is a Medicine’ by Tony Brown. The life story of an entertaining ex-pig farmer and funeral director from Suffolk. Survival is all about having a good sense of humour!
On April 22nd, at Spexhall, we shall be given a lesson in quilting by Marion Barnes. A chance for some to learn a new skill or brush up an old one.
Members and friends will be visiting the Lowestoft Porcelain Factory on April 23rd for a tour and then to have a go at painting on china. Another new skill for some. Who knows we may have a budding ceramics artist in our midst!
On May 20th in Wissett Village Hall we shall be discussing the resolutions to be put forward at the National Annual Conference. Then, a wonderful treat: Eve King will be talking about the artist, Turner. Anyone who came to her talk last year on Constable will know how enthralling her talks are, illustrated by beautiful slides.
If anyone would like to have more information about the local WI please telephone the secretary, Val Sawyer on 01986 872261
WISSETT CARPET BOWLS CLUB
No real news this time but we have finished our league games and are enjoying playing ‘friendlies’ on Wednesday evenings.

ST ELIZABETH HOSPICE
There are a lot more items you can now save for the hospice which
they can turn into money to enable it to keep going. As well as
old coins, stamps and ink cartridges, they can make use of cigarette
cards, post cards, old sporting programmes, old mobile phones
and old books - either to sell or for the patients to read.
Carole Steele collects them at 12 The Street. She can also give
you information about the St Elizabeth Hospice Lottery. Phone
her on 874011 for more information.
