COMMUNITY COUNCIL
A meeting was held to discuss the winter programme.
Whist drives were arranged for November 21st, January 23rd and March 20th.
The good intentions fell at the first hurdle when Rumburgh advertised a whist drive on the same night as ours. We cancelled ours but have come to an arrangement with the organisers of the Rumburgh whist drives that ours and theirs should not clash again.
It was decided to have a pre-Christmas Party and not a New Year one as it would clash with the pub’s party.
Future events include a St. Valentines party on 13th February, a safari supper on April 24th, a Treasure Hunt in the late spring and a quiz next September.
The AGM will be on 18th February to which the whole village is invited.
SALE AT MANOR FARM - October 17th
So many lovely things were given for the sale. Thank you very much to all who gave them and to all those who helped us on the day in all sorts of ways.
Thank you also to everyone who came and spent their money, raising £1,016.00 for church funds.
A very big thank you to you all.
Nick and Maggie Evans
AND a HUGE thank you to Nick and Maggie who did it all, providing their house and organising skills plus food and drink
SPEXHALL & WISSETT WI
November 21st. The Christmas pudding Stir up at Wissett was a great success. Icwt of pudding mix was made and sold and a profit of £303 was made for WI funds.
November 24th. “Bats and other beasties,” was an absorbing and interesting talk by John Goldsmith. We now know the difference between our pipistrelles and our noctules, where bats hibernate, what sort we have in our belfries and lofts and about the intimate side of their lives
December 8th. WI Christmas party in Wissett Village Hall. Arguably the best beef anywhere ever will be eaten. Sorry - open to members only!
If you would like to know more about our WI contact the secretary, Lyn, at The Rickyards, Mill Road on 872460.
WISSETT CARPET BOWLS CLUB
We can’t say we are enjoying our league matches at the moment because we’re not doing very well now that we are in the first division and we have been knocked out of the knock-out cup; but we are looking forward to taking part in the Chairman’s Plate Competition. Also there are some friendly games coming up which are always enjoyable.
We shall join our old friends at Ilketshall St Andrew on December 12th for the usual delicious Christmas dinner.
We are all looking forward to our Captain’s return from Australia in the near future.

ST ELIZABETH HOSPICE
There are a lot more items you can now save for the hospice which
they can turn into money to enable it to keep going. As well as
old coins, stamps and ink cartridges, they can make use of cigarette
cards, post cards, old sporting programmes, old mobile phones
and old books - either to sell or for the patients to read.
Carole Steele collects them at 12 The Street. She can also give
you information about the St Elizabeth Hospice Lottery. Phone
her on 874011 for more information.
